Mariposas Hydroelectric Plant was opened on January 2012. It is located 6.5 kilometers from Lircay Hydroelectric, having an installed capacity of 6 mega watts (MW).
It was designed with a water inlet having a flow rate of 20 cubic meters per second, a penstock, turbine Andritz / Vatech type CAT (vertical axis of 6.5 MW), a generator of 7 Mega Volt Ampere (MVA) and a substation 6.6/66 lift KV.
It has a transmission line of 7 kilometers connected with Lircay substation, where power will be evacuated to the Central Interconnected System.
As Lircay Plant, Mariposas has been recognized as a Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) estimating a reduction to 21.000 tons of CO2 per year.
